Like Cape Oa, it has a remarkably rounded and soft impression, thanks in large part to its maturation in Ardbeg's new "Gathering Vats." Within, whiskies from various casks—including the sweetness of Pedro Ximenez, spicy first-fill virgin Chard oak, and intense bourbon barrels—melt together and become acquainted with one another. The result is a dram with smoky power balanced by a seductively smooth sweetness. Ardbeg's signature peat, dark chocolate, and aniseed notes are enveloped by soft, silky butterscotch, black pepper, and clove, building to a climax of intense flavor. Non-chill filtered.
