All of Ardbeg's life revolves around this turn, but this time, its power has been concentrated, becoming a powerful force that embodies a new flavor frontier for Ardbeg. Experimenting with a process called "high gravity mashing," the whisky creators drastically reduced the amount of water in the mash turn and incorporated more grain than ever before. This unorthodox mash maximizes the intensity of the acetate esters, crushing and concentrating every drop to create flavor, while also increasing the wort's density to astronomical levels, drawing out fruitier, sweeter flavors from the deepest core of the mash turn. A wonderfully fruity Ardbeg is born, with notes of muscovado sugar swirling with sharp aromas of ripe barley and toasted sourdough bread, while sweet peat smoke orbits ripe tropical fruit.
