Talisker, the oldest operating distillery on the Isle of Skye, was founded in 1830 by brothers Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill. By the late Victorian era, Talisker had become one of the best-selling single malts, proving its unique style both then and now. However, in 1960, a fire broke out in Loch Harport, engulfing the lake in flames and destroying the still. The rebuilt distillery was equipped with replicas of the original stills, featuring U-shaped rye pipes (a kind of double distillation effect) and traditional worm tub cooling. These elements still contribute to Talisker's distinctive texture and character today. The Distiller's Edition is a masterpiece of craftsmanship. Each cask in the series is individually selected and perfectly matched to the characteristics of each single malt distilled here. The two-stage maturation process imparts deeper flavor and complexity, a core philosophy of this limited-edition Distillers' Edition, which seeks to preserve the perfection of this already renowned single malt.
