When Michter's US★1 Sour Mash Whiskey was named 2019 Whiskey of the Year by The Whisky Exchange, it marked the first time an American whiskey had ever achieved this honor. This award-winning whiskey is at the heart of our Toasted Barrel Sour Mash Whiskey. This product is created by taking Michter's US★1 Sour Mash Whiskey and further maturing it in a custom-built second barrel. This second barrel was assembled from wood that had been naturally dried for 18 months and then toasted without charring. The production team, led by Master Distiller Dan Mackey and Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson, evaluated several levels of toasting in the second barrel before deciding on the one that best showcased the elegant nuances of this remarkable whiskey.
