Launched in 2023, Daniel Weller is an experimental line exploring how different wheat varieties transform the character of bourbon. Named after the pioneering ancestors of the Weller family, this extension of the original Wheated Bourbon brand honors Daniel Weller, William LaRue Weller's grandfather and a man who passed down the tradition to generations of whiskeymakers, while also showcasing the innovative spirit of Buffalo Trace Distillery. The first release is made with emmer wheat, an ancient Egyptian grain rarely used in modern distilling, and is aged for approximately 12 years before being bottled at 94 proof, offering a unique perspective on the Wheated Bourbon heritage.
