Created in collaboration with the V&A Dundee, Scotland's design museum, and Ben Dobbin of Foster + Partners, The Lair decanter and sculpture are an extremely limited edition of just two pieces. Ben's sculpture, containing The Lair, appears frozen in time and is a wonderful example of tensegrity, a modern architectural style that portrays objects as if created by nature through precisely balanced tension and integrity. Using this architectural approach, Ben designed a bronze, brass, and Scottish brown oak sculpture that is dynamic, bold, and perfectly represents the 52-year-old The Lair. Matured in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, The Lair is finished with an unparalleled blend of carefully selected casks, including a 1980 vintage Calvados, a 1940 Colheita port pipe, a tawny port pipe, and a 40-year-old Pedro Ximenez, before being finished in a Montredon red wine cask.
