Product Info
Since its founding in 2014, New Leaf Distilling has carefully stockpiled its whiskey for long-term aging. This latest addition to its core range marks the first long-aged version of its award-winning flagship bourbon. Bottled unchill-filtered at 100 proof, this whiskey draws on the sour mash tradition of Kentucky whiskeymaking and its own experience, creating a high-rye, unfiltered bourbon that delivers a savory, spicy character built upon the distinctive foundation of mature Kentucky whiskey. Like all New Leaf whiskeys, the rich rye spice is present, but the secondary and tertiary flavors are even deeper and more developed. The overall oak flavors are more intense, and the freshness is exceptional, suggesting that this eight-year-old New Leaf bourbon has significant aging potential. While New Leaf has always strived to adhere to the Bottled in Bond standard, including a single distillation season and 100 proof at the time of bottling, the difficult decision was made to forgo this status for this release, in favor of a wider distribution network, unlike previous limited editions. While meeting all the other requirements of a bond whisky, due to the relatively low production volumes in the early days of New Leaf, this whisky was released as a blend of bourbons from two distillation seasons, aged for a minimum of eight years.
