Since its founding in 2014, New Leaf Distilling has carefully stockpiled its whiskey for long-term maturation. This latest addition to its core lineup marks the first long-aged version of its award-winning flagship rye whiskey. Bottled unchill-filtered at 100 proof, this rye whiskey draws on the sour mash tradition of Kentucky whiskeymaking and its own experience, delivering a rich, complex, and spicy flavor profile. The freshness is exceptional, suggesting that each eight-year-old cask of New Leaf Rye Whiskey has significant aging potential. While New Leaf has always adhered to the Bottled in Bond standard, the difficult decision to forgo this status for this release was made to focus on a wider distribution network than previous specialty releases. While meeting all the other requirements for a bonded whiskey, the relatively low initial production of New Leaf resulted in this release being a blend of whiskeys from two distillation seasons, aged for a minimum of eight years.
