New Leaf's Kentucky Single Malt Whiskey is a challenging new twist on the malted barley tradition, combining up to six different mash bills and slowly maturing them in multiple casks, combining Old World inspiration with Kentucky sour mash techniques, and distilling them in column beer stills and doublers to weave rich malt flavors with the depth of oak maturation, offering a bold new take on the traditional Kentucky whiskey regime. The six mash bills used are 100% Maris Otter, a classic English ale malt; 100% Golden Promise, a traditional Scotch malt; Barleywine style, modeled after high-alcohol, full-bodied Barleywine ales; Belgian Quadrupel style, inspired by rich and smooth Trappist ales; a strongly smoky and pungent 100% Scottish peated barley malt; and 100% Chevalier malted barley, a heirloom malt from England dating back to the 1820s.
