New Leaf Distilling's Kentucky Wild Gin Bourbon Barreled is lovingly crafted from locally foraged botanicals, capturing the indigenous flavors of the Ohio Valley and reflecting historic Kentucky gin ingredients. Eleven botanicals, including classic European gin ingredients like angelica, orris, licorice root, and three citrus fruits, are distilled directly in a pot still, then added with locally foraged wild juniper berries and the surprising American allspice (spicebush), both of which are featured in Slow Food's Arc of Taste. A touch of New Make Rye Whiskey spirit is added to the base spirit for rich texture and a long finish, before the gin is aged in freshly emptied New Leaf Bourbon barrels, infusing it with smooth notes of vanilla and oak. New Leaf Kentucky Wild Gin Bourbon Barreled makes a great base for gin cocktails with a touch of bitters, and it also pairs well with a Martinez (essentially a gin Manhattan) made with the gin instead of whiskey, deliciously blurring the line between gin and whiskey.
